The fruitfulness of sacrifice

Overview

First and foremost, it is the life of Father Daniel JOËSSEL that is recounted here, from his birth into a deeply Christian family to his death, the ultimate sacrifice, offered so that "there may be priests who will replace him and who will also try to bring souls into the true kingdom of charity".

Sacrifice, starting with the Mass, was at the heart of Father JOËSSEL's spirituality. His whole life was an offering to God and for God, in total abandonment, following the example of Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus.

It is this joyful self-giving that we are invited to follow and live personally. And while this may seem difficult, the fruitfulness of Father JO's life can only encourage us in this same direction!

In the homily he gave in 1949 for his burial in Asnières, reproduced in full in this book, Mr Pressoir had already perfectly captured "this admirable figure of a priest".
